Frequently asked

How do I add a kid?

On first launch the app walks you through adding your first kid. To add more, open the Kids tab and tap Add Child. The free plan supports one kid; Bucko Pro ($1.99/mo or $17.99/yr, 7-day free trial) unlocks unlimited.

How do I change a chore's payout?

Open the Chores tab, tap a chore, edit the payout. Changes take effect for the current week.

What happens at the end of the week?

On Sunday (or any day if you prefer), tap End Week in Settings. The week is locked and saved to History. A new fresh week starts. When you've actually paid the kid, tap Mark as Paid on the History entry.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, in the app's standard storage area (iOS App Sandbox / Android App-Specific Storage). It is included in your device's standard backup unless you exclude it. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How do I delete my data?

Two options:

  • Inside the app: Settings → Reset Data wipes everything Bucko has stored on this device.
  • Uninstall: Removing the app from your device removes all of Bucko's local data along with it.

If you use Family Sharing, your data is also stored on Supabase-hosted servers. To request deletion of that shared data, email hello@getbucko.com with your family code after leaving the family. For all other data, there is no off-device copy for us to delete on your behalf.

How do I move my data to a new device?

Settings → Export Data produces a JSON file. Save it somewhere you can retrieve from the new device (Files / iCloud Drive / Google Drive / email). On the new device, install Bucko and use Settings → Import Data to load the file.

Does Bucko sync between phones?

Yes — Bucko Pro includes two sync options:

  • iCloud Backup (iOS): your data automatically syncs across your own devices signed in to the same Apple ID (iPhone + iPad, or when you restore to a new phone).
  • Family Sharing: lets two parents on completely separate devices — different Apple IDs, or one iOS and one Android — stay in sync in real time. One parent creates a family link (gets a 6-character code), the other enters it under Join a Family. Every save on either phone is reflected on the other within seconds.

Free users can use the manual export/import in Settings at any time.

How do I set up Family Sharing?

Both parents need Bucko Pro. Then:

  1. Parent 1: open Settings → Family Sharing → Create Family Link. A 6-character code appears (e.g. KOALA7).
  2. Share that code with Parent 2 — tap the share icon next to the code to send it via Messages, AirDrop, email, or any other way.
  3. Parent 2: open Settings → Family Sharing → Join a Family, enter the code, and tap Join. Parent 2's app is immediately updated with Parent 1's data.
  4. From that point every save on either device pushes to the shared family and appears on the other phone within seconds.

To stop sharing, either parent can tap Settings → Family Sharing → Leave Family.

Subscriptions

How do I subscribe to Bucko Pro?

Tap Add Child when you already have one kid, or open Settings → Upgrade to Bucko Pro. Pick monthly or yearly, hit "Start free trial". You're not charged for the first 7 days.

How do I cancel?

Bucko Pro is billed by Apple or Google, so cancellation lives in your account settings, not in the app:

  • iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Bucko Pro → Cancel.
  • Android: Google Play Store → Account → Subscriptions → Bucko Pro → Cancel.

Cancelling stops the renewal at the end of the current paid period; the existing kids and chore data stay in the app, you just can't add a new second-or-later kid until you re-subscribe.

I cancelled during the free trial. Will I be charged?

No, as long as you cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

I subscribed on iPhone, will it work on my iPad / Mac?

Yes — open Bucko on the other device, tap Settings → Restore purchases (or hit the "Restore" link on the paywall). As long as you're signed in to the same Apple ID, your Pro entitlement carries across.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from — Apple (App Store → your purchase history → Report a Problem) or Google (Play Store → Order History → Refund). We don't process refunds directly.

Do you have a kids' mode?

Today there's Kids View, a tap-only mode that hides the admin UI so a kid can press their own button without getting into anything they shouldn't. A more involved kid-mode (where children submit chores for parent approval) is on the roadmap.

I found a bug. What do I do?

Email hello@getbucko.com with the steps to reproduce, your device model, and the OS version. A screenshot helps a lot.
